History

After finding success elusive in the County Championship since in the Second World War, despite producing players of the quality of Brian Statham, Fred Trueman's long time opening partner for England, and legendary opener Cyril Washbrook, Lancashire took the opportunity to dominate the new world of one day cricket in the 1970s. Making full use of overseas stars such as Farokh Engineer and the explosive West Indian batting great Clive Lloyd, captain Jackie Bond won a succession of one day crowns in the company of David Lloyd, Barry Wood, Frank Hayes and 'Flat Jack' Simmons.
