The Lancia Lambda was an innovative automobile produced from 1922 through 1931. It was the first car to feature a load-bearing monocoque-type body, and it also pioneered the use of an independent suspension (the front sliding pillar with coil springs). Presented for the first time in 1922 the Lambda incorporated numerous technical innovations and is still hailed as one of the significant models in the history of the automobile.
Lambda's were also used extensively in motorsport in various guises, mostly by private entries, albeit supported by the factory.
