Landhi Town is a large industrial town in the eastern part of Karachi, Pakistan. It is bordered by the Faisal Cantonment and Shah Faisal Town to the north across the Malir River, Bin Qasim Town to the south and east, and Korangi Town to the west. The population of Landhi Town was estimated to be over 660,000 at the 1998 census, of which 99% are Muslim. There are several ethnic groups including Urdu speakers, Punjabis, Sindhis, Kashmiris, Seraikis, Pakhtuns, Balochis, Memons, Bohras, Ismailis. History

The federal government introduced local government reforms in the year 2000, which eliminated the previous third tier of government (administrative divisions) and raised the fourth tier (districts) to become the new third tier. The effect in Karachi was the dissolution of the former Karachi Division and the merger of it's five districts to form a new Karachi City-District with eighteen autonomous constituent towns including Landhi Town. Neighbourhoods of Landhi Town

Note:The neighbourhood of Korangi should not be confused with Korangi Town which lies to the southwest of the neighbourhood.
The town of Landhi has some poorer areas which grew haphazardly and are referred to as katchi abadi which translates roughly as shanty towns. This includes the neighbourhoods of Dawood Chowrangi, Moinabad, Muslimabad and Muzafarabad which form a cluster in the east of the town. Trade and industry

Landhi Town includes one of the four largest industrial estates in Karachi and will be the site of a new 250-acre industrial estate for small and medium businesses. The industrial estate benefits from the close proximity of Port Qasim and Quaid-e-Azam International Airport as well as rail and road links to the rest of Pakistan.
