 | A Birmingham native who graduated from UAB in 1972 with a B.A. degree in social and behavioral sciences, Langford is serving his third term as mayor of Fairfield, a predominately fl community of 12,200 on BirminghamÂ’s western border. |
| Unofficially, Langford serves as both cheerleader and defender for the state of Alabama, as well as for UAB. |
| Langford, who believes that government should return to its original purpose of public service, says that he became interested in politics as a leader in student government and later, as a news reporter, when he was exposed to city council meetings in Birmingham and the surrounding municipalities. |
