In Etruscan mythology, the Lasa (plural Lasas) were gods and goddesses who accompanied Turan, the god of love. They are usually, but not always portrayed in art as having wings. They were associated with mirrors and wreaths.
In Stregheria, the Lasa are the spirits of deceased witches. Often called "ancestral spirits", they offer guidance to whosoever calls upon them.
As former chairman of the Louisiana Wheat and Feed Grains Committee and as a member of the American Soybean Association, Louisiana Farm Bureau, Louisiana Land Bank and the Louisiana Soybean Research and Promotion Board, Jules Bordelon was a visible spokesman for the school.
LaSAS opened its doors in temporary facilities in the fall of 2000 with an eighth-grade class of 54 students.
LaSAS will add a grade level each year until 2004, when it will be a full eighth- to twelfth-grade high school.
