Laudatur is the highest grade in the Finnish matriculation examination and its abbreviation is "L". Only the top 5% of the participants are given an L. Other possible grades are Eximia cum laude approbatur (E, 15% of participants), Magna cum laude approbatur (M, 20%), Cum laude approbatur (C, 24%), Lubenter approbatur (B, 20%), Approbatur (A, 11%) and Improbatur (I=fail, 5%). Laudatur is a Latin word which translates to "praised".
