As of the 2000 census, the CDP population was 7,076, and its population was estimated at 8,998 in 2007 according to an article in December 5, 2007 Las Vegas Review Journal. Laughlin is a port located on the Colorado River 94 miles (152.3 km) south of Las Vegas. Directly across the river from Laughlin is Bullhead City, Arizona, which has four times the population of Laughlin (approximately 39,000) and supplies much of the workforce.
