Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum is a 14,407-seat multi-purpose arena in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The arena opened in 1989 and was named after Lawrence Joel, an Armymedic from Winston-Salem who was awarded the Medal of Honor in 1967 for action in Vietnam in 1965. Granted, the upper deck at The Joel is a terrible place to watch a game and no students should have had to sit up there, but this was a huge game with major ACC ramifications...
