Le Boeuf sur le Toit (The Ox on the Roof - subtitle: The Nothing-Doing Bar), 1920 is a surrealist ballet. The first performance was given at the Comédie des Champs-Élysées, Paris, on 21 February 1920. It featured a score by Darius Milhaud that is strongly influenced by Brazilian popular music, a scenario by Jean Cocteau, stage designs by Raoul Dufy, and costumes by Guy-Pierre Fauconnet. There were eight characters: the Barman, the Red-headed Lady, the Décolletée Lady, the Policeman, the Negro Boxer, the Bookmaker, the Gentleman in Evening Dress, and the Negro Boy. Le ballet gave its name to a well-known Parisian bar-restaurant that opened in 1922.
