Le Mans UC72 is a French football club, based in Le Mans. It was founded in 1985, having gone under its full name of Le Mans Union Club 72 since their foundation in 1902. Rudy Garcia, former coach of Dijon SCO, succeeds Frédéric Hantz, as manager of the MUC 72. The club was promoted to Ligue 1 for the 2005-06 season. Elle atteint le sommet de son histoire lors de ces trois saisons suivantes : 1970-1971 (9e), 1971-1972 (4e), 1972-1973 (8e) avant de s'écrouler en 1973-1974 (17e) et de redescendre les Divisions au fil des ans : la 3e (de (1974 à 1981) et la 4e (de 1981 à 1985).
Le nouveau club devient le MUC 72 le 12 juin 1985.
