Gedeputeerde Staten ondersteunen het initiatief van de gemeente Vaals om Dorpshuis De Deus aan te bouwen aan de basisschool Lemiers.
Dankzij deze aan/nieuwbouw kunnen verenigingen en andere gebruikers van het huidige Dorpshuis de Deus adequaat geherhuisvest worden en wordt de leefbaarheid in de kleine kern Lemiers vergroot.
Zodoende wordt de leefbaarheid en het verenigingsleven in de kleine kern Lemiers in stand gehouden en geïntensiveerd.
Koninklijk Erkende Harmonie St. Catharina Lemiers werd opgericht op 30 januari 1898 en staat sedert 2004 onder leiding van dirigent Rob van der Zee.
Tevens organiseert de harmonie ieder jaar concerten in Lemiers zoals het Nieuwjaarsconcert en het Voorjaarsconcert en wordt ook buiten de gemeentegrens veelvuldig deelgenomen aan concerten.
Van 1985 tot 1993 is hij dirigent geweest van onze harmonie.
