Lifeform is the physical entity which encompasses a life. A lifeform is in a non-equilibrium thermodynamic state. A continuous energy input is required to maintain this state. Lifeforms expend a significant amount of time procuring and metabolizing food to obtain this energy. The human lifeform has made use of other forms of energy such as fire and tools which are used for the utilization of mechanical energy. This utilization of additional forms of energy has allowed humans to reduce the time required for subsistence, thus providing time for creative behavior.
Silicon lifeforms are proposed to have a crystalline morphology, and are theorized to be able to exist in high temperatures, such as planets closer to the sun.
Lifeforms based in ammonia rather than water are also considered, though this solution appears less optimal than water.
Belief in extraterrestrial life may have been present in ancient Egypt, Babylon, and Sumer, although in these societies, cosmology was fundamentally supernatural and the notion of aliens is difficult to distinguish from that of gods, demons, and such.
Small LifeForm is the solo project of Brian John Mitchell, owner of Silber Records and also member of the bands Remora and Vlor.
The drones and dirges Small LifeForm creates are swelling with a full, warm tone that evokes images of birth and death almost simultaneously, as though one were viewing an entire life in the time the track has to play.
What Small LifeForm has accomplished here is quite impressive however: where most bands that drone do so on guitars, these drones are done completely organically, with all drones done by certain instruments and often named after the instrument performed on ("Cymbal," "Horns," "Organ," you get the idea).
