Usage

  • Since around 1973, lime green (which in this case is closer to yellow than green) has been adopted as the colour of fire engines in parts of the United States and elsewhere. The reason behind this is that lime green fire engines are more visible on the streets than the traditional red trucks, especially at night. In Australia and New Zealand this form of lime green is also known as "ACT Yellow" as this is the colour of the fire engines in the Australian Capital Territory.
