Lincang Wa Autonomous Prefecture is located in south-western Yunnanprovince, China. It is the mountainous home of the Wa minority and was historically seen as too 'wild' to be worth settling by neighboring powers, notably BritishBurma and ancient China. This may have had some connection to the Wa's image as head-hunters.
Yunnan New Film Project is going to make a musical film in Lincang, Yunnan next year.The director Yu Jiangyin, who is currently considered among the most talented of China's young composers, will go to Lincang to look for the local musical and dancing elements this November.
