Demographics As of the census2 of 2000, there are 6,087 people, 2,058 households, and 1,389 families residing in the county. The population density is 1/km˛ (2/mi˛). The racial makeup of the county is 86.30% White, 4.96% Black or African American, 0.94% Native American, 0.56% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 5.65% from other races, and 1.56% from two or more races. 8.53% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
