Lindsey experienced a crisis of conscience in later one, when Wolfram & Hart were planning to assassinate a small group of innocent children. In order to prevent this from happening, Angel and Lindsey struck up a temporary alliance and were able to save the children. This already showed that Lindsey had the capacity for good, and willingness to put aside his vendetta with Angel to ensure the lives of innocent children. Lindsey was poised to leave Wolfram & Hart, but was wooed by a promotion and stayed, becoming an integral player in the plan to resurrect Darla. During the ensuing battle, Angel chopped off Lindsey's hand, and Lindsey was forced to have an artificial hand, which took a great deal of getting used to. Season Two Darla was returned to life, Lindsey became enamored with the now human Darla, and was present when she was re-sired by Drusilla. His infatuation did not end when Darla became a vampire, and he was one of only two spared by Darla & Drusilla in the wine cellar massacre. With only him and Lilah left of the Special Projects Team, their rivalry reached an all-time high as the two started a power struggle for vice-presidency of the Special Projects Team, as well as staying alive. Darla proceeded to manipulate Lindsey's feelings, who she never reprociated, but Darla used them to gain Lindsey's help after Angel had set the pair of Darla and Drusilla on fire. Darla was able to stay at Lindsey's house, but after a confrontation with Angel, Darla is not to be found. Lindsey retaliated by delivering a brutal beating on Angel with a sledgehammer, as well as hitting the vampire with his truck a few times, demanding to know what happened to Darla. Angel was eventually able to gain the upper hand and smashed his artificial hand, and left him behind, stealing his truck in the progress. Eventually returning to his apartment in the morning, Lindsey finds his truck waiting for him, and in the apartment finds out that Darla has now truly left town, taking all her clothes with her. Lindsey is left alone, beaten both physically and emotionally. Consequently, his performance at the firm worsened, but he was still in a race with Lilah for the position of vice-president of the Special Projects Team. Hoping that his performance would pick up again with the return of his hand, his superiors set up an appointment through which he received a mystical hand transplant. Yet, the hand acted up, forcibly writing 'kill' when Lindsey did not concentrate. Fearing the hand was evil, Lindsey went to Caritas and sang for the Host, which revealed that he used to be a regular customer and musician at Caritas untill he lost his hand. Lorne set him and Angel on the path that would end up with the two working together, and discovering a Wolfram & Hart facility that specialised in unwitting limb-donors. Amongst them was the donor of Lindsey's hand, an old friend of his that he had left behind in the mailroom when Lindsey started heading for the top. After finding out that his hand wasn't evil but rather suicidal, Lindsey pulled the plug on his friend and destroyed the facility, while saving those that could still be saved. It was then that Lindsey decided to leave the firm permanently. Suicide (from Latin sui caedere, to kill oneself) is the act of intentionally ending ones own life. ...
In a last confrontation between Angel and Lindsey, the two buried the hatchet, and Lindsey warned him of the games Wolfram & Hart were trying to play. Lindsey left L.A. and went on a soul-searching trip, where he ended among other places, in Nepal. He did not appear afterwards for quite a while.
Season Five In season five, Lindsey finally returned to Los Angeles, when he learned that Angel had taken over the L.A. division of Wolfram & Hart. Although it seemed that Lindsey and Angel had been able to bury the hatchet, Lindsey was unable to cope with the fact that Angel was able to accomplish so easily what Lindsey had fought so hard for before, namely, the top position at L.A.'s Wolfram & Hart. His seemingly resolved antipathy toward Angel returned in full force. This article is about the largest city in California. ...
He was covered in rune tattoos, which mystically masked his presence from the Senior Partners. At some unrevealed point, he began a relationship with Eve for whom he ostensibly shows true affection. Together, they manipulated events toward ensuring that Spike, and not Angel, would prove {or at least appear to the Senior Partners) to be the ensouled vampire foretold in the Nyazean Scroll to have a crucial impact in the One Thousand Year War between good and evil (which Lindsey later explains to be the 'True Apocalypse' - whether this is canonical in the Buffyverse is questionable, but Lindsey had no apparent reason to lie) and fulfill the Shanshu Prophecy. He hoped that once the Senior Partners realised the folly of attempting to seduce Angel to their cause, that he would be stripped of his position of power at Wolfram & Hart, leaving a power vacuum which Lindsey hoped to fill and also gaining a measure of revenge on Angel. The seeds of this plot were planted in season 4 of the series when Angel is given the Amulet which Spike eventually uses to destroy the Hellmouth. Deposited, incorporeal, in Wolfram & Hart and unable to leave the city limits, Spike gradually grows attached to the city and he rethinks his initial intention to immediately seek out Buffy in Europe. It is at this point that Lindsey initiates the next stage of his plan, returning Spike to a corporeal being via what was likey to be a spell of some sort sent in a package to Spike at Wolfram & Hart. Lindsey seeks out Spike under the assumed identity of a drifter named Doyle, and closely parallels the initial encounters between Angel the real Doyle. Claiming to receive visions from the Powers That Be, Lindsey efficiently gains Spike's cooperation and trust. Doyle may be: Real people: Arthur Conan Doyle (1859-1930), British Roddy Doyle (born 1958), Irish writer Jerry Doyle, American actor Jim Doyle, American politician Doyle, guitarist Patrick Doyle, composer Doyle Brunson, Living poker legend Fictional characters: Mrs Doyle (Father Ted) Doyle (Angel) Doyle (Andromeda) USS Doyle (FFG-39), United...
It is early during this period of Lindsey's plan that he and Eve contrive a situation for Spike to save Angel from a demonic parasite (placed on an unconscious Angel by Eve), which simultaneously disheartens Angel, galvanises Spike and significantly, adds weight and veracity to claims made by 'Doyle'/Lindsey. Although the 'mind numbing' visions that Lindesy reports are non-existant; the events described (whether known to Lindesy through mundane or arcane means in unknown) are true, and for a time Spike does appear the far more likely candidate to fulfill the Shanshu prophecy. However, when Cordelia seemingly returned to life, it threw a monkey wrench in Lindsey's plans, and he sent Spike to kill her. It is seen that Lindsey hadn't expected Spike to actually kill Cordelia, but it "was worth a shot". While Spike went after Cordelia, Lindsey had infiltrated Wolfram & Hart. When informed by Eve that Spike had failed to kill Cordelia, Lindsey activated the Senior Partners' programme meant to kill Angel if he turned against them. The plan was averted though as Spike, Cordelia and Angel were able to uncover Lindsey's actions. Events led to Angel and Lindsey facing off in the chamber where the 'contingency plan' was stored. The pair fought on the rising container, that held the creature meant to kill Angel while Cordelia tried to prevent the process from completing. They fought long and Lindsey displayed the new abilities he had learned in his soul-searching journey, capable of keeping up with Angel. For a while Lindsey held the upper hand, tuntil Angel retaliated by not only beating Lindsey, but also his crew had been able to dissolve the tattoos that protected Lindsey from the Senior Partner's wrath. Lindsey was held during his incarceration in a hell dimension which emulated suburbia and Lindsey had a wife and son. Time operated in a loop and every day he had his heart cut out by a demon hiding in the house's basement, reminiscent of the myth of Prometheus. He revealed that he was attempting that part of his ploy in killing Angel was also meant to make him become a member of the Circle of the Black Thorn, the Senior Partners' instrument on this plane of existence. Where Cordelia had set Angel on the right track again, Lindsey was able to show him that while Angel is cooling his heels as boss of Wolfram & Hart, the Apocalypse was slowly underway and Angel and team were getting more corrupted by the day. Lindsey and Angel became allies once more in an effort to stop the Circle. The two would fight the oncoming battle together and at the end, the two would see again where they stood, maybe even allowing Lindsey to take a powerful position at Wolfram & Hart as 'the devil they knew'. At least that was the plan. Lindsey dismembered the Sahrvin demon clan with Lorne's assistance as had been planned. However, Angel knew that Lindsey could never be trusted and that he would never be a force for good. As such, Angel had plotted behind Lindsey's back, asking one last favor of Lorne. Powers and Abilities Thanks to an unrevealed mystical process, Lindsey became gifted with strength, speed and endurance on par with Angel as well as rune tattoos meant to hide him from all known surveillance methods beyond the naked eye. He was apparently also capable of transmuting a small blade into a sword, and was an adept swordsman.
Trivia - Lindsey became the only character besides Angel himself to appear in both the first and last episodes of the five year series.
