Liquid Snake

Liquid Snake is the ultimate villain. This fictional character is the antagonist in the smash-hit video game | Metal Gear Solid (1998) as the leader of a terrorist attack on the nuclear facility known as Shadow Moses.

History

Little is known about Liquid's past, even his name is information so highly government classified it is unavailible to Solid Snake in the game. He was born in the United States of America, with his 2 brothers, Solid Snake and Solidus Snake, as a product of the Les Enfants Terribles Project in an attempt to recreate the perfect soldier, Big Boss. After his birth he was immeidiately moved to England to begin his life as a solider.

In 1990 Liquid works for the British special force SAS in missions which involve the destruction of mobile SCUD missle launchers in the Gulf War. It is during this time he is captured by Iraqi forces and brainwashed. As a result of his imprisonment and brainwashing his goals became terroism and world domination.

Liquid was rescued from Iraq by the U.S. government and returns to England in 1994.

In 2000 Liquid joins FOXHOUND and in the same year becomes commander of the new foxhound. He recruits Sniper Wolf and Psycho Mantis.

In 2005 a dummy warhead is tested on Metal Gear REX. Liquid and other members of FOXHOUND are present to supervise the successful test. George Sears (better known as Solidus Snake, also fictional president at the time) has Ocelot provoke Liquid Snake into starting an uprising at Shadow Moses, so that he may obtain the warhead data and Metal Gear REX. In an attempt to spy on the governments reaction to his actions and to fool Solid Snake, he kills McDonnel Miller in his home and begins to impersonate him.

Shadow Moses

Having successfully taking over Shadow Moses Island Liquid demands 1 billion U.S. dollars and the remains of Big Boss. His aim is to launch a nuclear missle at Beijing, China to provoke the next world war, by doing so he believes he will create a new age "where warriors like himself will be appreciated once more." He intends to stay at Shadow Moses and create the new 'Outer Heaven.'

His secondary motivation is to confront Solid Snake. Under the false premise that he inhertied the weaker genes so that Solid may inherit all the strong genes, Liquid desires revenge on his brother.

After planning to rebuild Outer Heaven Liquid "promises" Sergei Gurlukovich that he will use REX to restore Mother Russia in exchange for technology and support. With the addition of Gurlukovich's troops to his the next generation special forces, he will have amassed a small, but highly skilled army. It also comes to Liquid's attention that Solid is sent by the government, not in the hope to assassinate the FOXHOUND members, but as a vector for the FOXDIE virus. Upon learning this Liquid adds the FOXDIE virus to his list of demands.

Further into the game, Liquid reveals he has been impersonating McDonnel Miller, before breaking the news to Solid Snake, he is nothing more than a puppet of the government, being a vector for FOXDIE. Liquid then proceeds to pilot REX and takes on Solid Snake in combat. Gray Fox destroys the radome on REX, but at the cost of his own life, leaving Liquid at a disadvantage with a damaged REX. Solid finishes off REX, but falls unconscious after the explosion. After a very long and dramatic speech by Liquid about the history of himself and Solid, the brothers engage in hand to hand combat on top of REX. Solid defeats Liquid once more, but Liquid's persistancy and determination somehow save him from the lethal fall from REX.

After attempting to kill Solid Snake one more time in a car chase, he falls victim to the FOXDIE virus.

Future

After losing his arm to Gray Fox at Shadow Moses, Ocelot has Liquid's arm grafted on.

Through his arm, Liquid somehow manages to slowly will Ocelot into performing tasks for him and eventually takes control of him completely. A theory is that Ocelot inherited some of his father, The Sorrow's, medium abilities. He becomes Liquid Ocelot, his plan at the time is to find the Patriots.

In 2009 Liquid Ocelot steals Metal Gear RAY from a tanker on the Hudson river. After the events of Metal Gear Solid 2, he sets Arsenal to crash into the mainland and escapes in RAY. Snakes plants a transmitter on Liquid's RAY as he escapes.

His future continues in the sequel to Metal Gear Solid 2, Metal Gear Solid 4, which is due for European release sometime in 2007.
