Encyclopedia > Liquiding

Liquiding is a form of dance born out of the rave scene. The root word, liquid refers to the fluid-like motion of the dancers body and apendages. It is primarily the dancers arms and hands which are the focus, though more advanced dancers work in a full range of body movements. Liquiding is similar to the styles of Popping or Locking which were born out of 80s B-Boy and funk movements. This article is about a form of party. ...

It is common for dancers to equip themselves with white cotton gloves; their black light sensitive nature provides a vibrant psychedelic effect and enables onlookers and the dancer him/herself to see the movement of the dance. For the same reason, chemical glow sticks are often held by weaving the fingers around one in each hand. A distinct version of liquid dancing involves holding thin strings with glow sticks on the ends and swinging them in large arcs around the body. The glow sticks serve to accentuate the body's movements. The one accessory almost always worn by a liquider is a baseball/crack otherwise known as a visor. These funtion as a hidaway and are used to perform so called hat-tricks, and are often worn upside down, or else pulled down low on the forehead. Note: Ultraviolet is also the name of a 1998 UK television miniseries about vampires. ... The word psychedelic is a neologism coined from the Greek words for mind, ψυχη (psyche), and manifest, δηλειν (delein). ...

If the available space in a party location and the organizer of parties allow it, there is much space for own experiments.

Martin Waugh's Liquid Sculpture images are water art photographs of fascinating liquid shapes that were created by dropping and splashing water, or other liquids.
The shapes are affected by many things: the physical properties of the liquid, such as surface tension and viscosity, as well as the timing of the drops and when the camera's shutter is opened and flash fired.
Wendy W. Zhang from the University of Chicago presented an illuminating paper on capturing liquid motion and water drops in Boulder in 2006.
