Encyclopedia > List of Minnesota lakes

This is a list of Minnesota lakes. The U.S. state of Minnesota is known as The Land of 10,000 Lakes, although the number 10,000 is actually considered to be low.

The official count of lakes more than ten acres (40,000 m²) in size is 11,842. The only state with more lakes than Minnesota is Alaska. Almost all counties in the state have natural lakes, but some such as Olmsted County only have man-made reservoirs.
