| Years of membership shall commence from the date of joining an Affiliated Club or a Ladies Auxiliary or former junior surf lifesaving association(s) but not earlier than the age to become eligible to obtain SLSA's Surf Rescue Certificate, whichever shall be the later date. |
| Meritorious Awards may be awarded to Affiliated Clubs and/or their members and/or the public generally for outstanding deeds of bravery performed in the sphere of operations of SLSA. |
| Recipients of a Commendation are not excluded from nominating for a Meritorious Award. |
