Criteria for inclusion
In the case of a movement which came to power, such a movement is included if it fulfills all of the following criteria: - exalting the nation, (and in some cases the race, culture, or religion) above the individual, with the state apparatus being supreme.
- stressing loyalty to a single leader.
- using violence and modern techniques of propaganda and censorship to forcibly suppress political opposition.
- engaging in severe economic and social regimentation.
- engaging in syndicalist corporatism.
- implementing totalitarian systems.
In the more common case that a movement did not or has not yet come to power, it is included on this list if it meets six of the following seven criteria: - exalting the nation, (and in some cases the race, culture, or religion) above the individual, with the state apparatus being supreme.
- stressing loyalty to a single leader.
- advocating violence or using modern techniques of propaganda and censorship to forcibly suppress political opposition.
- advocating severe economic and social regimentation.
- advocating syndicalist corporatism.
- advocating totalitarian systems.
- declaring itself or holding itself out to be a fascist, national socialist, or falangist movement.
