A political party is a political organization subscribing to a certain ideology or formed around very special issues with the aim to participate in power, usually by participating in elections.
Fiji has a multi-party system, with numerous parties in which no one party often has a chance of gaining power alone, and parties must work with each other to form coalition governments.

Christian Democratic Party - founded in 1999, this party won 19 percent of the vote and 3 seats in the 1999 election. It has since been largely absorbed into the United Fiji Party, although some of its members joined the Fiji Labour Party.
