  • Åland: 99999 Note: Country code: AX.
  • Algeria: 99999
  • Andorra: (AD-)999 each parish now has its own post code. See Postal services in Andorra.
  • Argentina: A9999AAA . The first letter (A) indicates the province, the four numbers (9999) are the old postal codes, the three last letters (AAA) indicate a side of the block. Previously 9999 which remains the minimum requirement as of 2006. See also Argentine postal code.
  • Armenia: 999999 Retained system inherited from former Soviet Union.
  • Australia: known as the "postcode": 9999*. In general, the first digit identifies the state or territory. See List of postal codes in Australia
  • Austria: (A-)9999 (the firstyrgnalmost one of the nine provinces -- called Bundesländer --, the last the nearest post office in the area)
  • Azerbaijan: (AZ-)9999 Previously used 999999 system inherited from former Soviet Union.

number traffic codes of the citys (provinces) - mainly listed alphabetically- ranging from 01 to 81. Before 1999, postal codes within the province of Istanbul were in the formats of 34999 (for the southern parts of the European side), 80999 (for the northern parts of the European side) and 81999 (for the Asiatic side). This was the only exception of provinces having their plate number traffic codes as the first two digits of their postal codes. As 80999 and 81999 are assigned for two new provinces (when a new province is established, all postal codes within that new province are changed in Turkey) in 1999, all postal codes within the province of Istanbul are changed and now are in the format of 34999.
