Please Note: The following article is not true. I am breaking the rules by relying on original research rather than sources. But I went by Little Ben this morning, and it was clearly on GMT. The apology was on there. But I am guessing that there were complaints at some point. It would be could to write the story of that here, rather than just pretending that it is still on BST. I started this talk on the discussion last winter but was ignored, and had to wait 'til autumn to make sure. | | This article does not cite any references or sources. Unusually for clocks in Britain, Little Ben is set one hour in advance of Greenwich Mean Time throughout the year. During the summer this coincides with British Summer Time, while in the winter this is the same as Central European Time. Although this means that the clock displays the local time for only half the year, it does demonstrate a preference for neither Britain nor Europe. This sentiment is captured in the rhyming couplet Apology for Summer Time signed J.W.R. affixed to the body of the clock: GMT redirects here. ...
