Livid was an Australian alternative rock music festival, which was held annually from 1989 to 2003. The festival date was standardised as late October/early November since 1991 until 2003. The festival played three concerts, in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. While it has not officially been permanently cancelled, no festivals have been held since 2003 and neither the organisers or promoters have announced any intention to restart Livid in the future. The festival began in 1989 with a 1500-strong audience at the University of Queensland in Brisbane. Its growing popularity saw it move to Moore Park and later the RNA Showgrounds, before becoming a semi-national festival in 2002 with concerts in the three east coast capital cities. Despite its success in attracting audiences and international acts, Livid began to run into financial difficulties, and in 2003 the festival organisers announced that there would be no event in 2004, supposedly due to a lack of touring acts. While they avowedly promised that the 2005 festival would go ahead, it was announced with little publicity in August 2005 that it would not occur after all. With the organisers and promoters making no mention of any future plans, and the website having not been updated since 2003, the festival's future seems uncertain at best. 1989 (MCMLXXXIX) was a common year starting on Sunday of the Gregorian calendar. ...
