History

Llanview, Pennsylvania as seen in the 1984 version of One Life to Live's opening sequence. The location shot shown here is in actuality Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

The community is supposedly a suburb of Philadelphia and is modeled after the actual Chestnut Hill section of the city. It is said to be the county seat of Llantano County and located on the Llantano River, across from Pine Valley, home of All My Children. Some people speculate that Llanview and Pine Valley stand in for Allentown & Bethlehem, since those cities are adjacent to one another and form a satellite area to Philadelphia that's large enough to have its own airport and daily newspapers, yet still have a small town feel. The Llantano River would represent the Lehigh River, and the nearby mountains could be the Poconos. The characters from both shows routinely visit, and some even work in, New York and Philadelphia, returning home within a few hours, and that would be possible from the Allentown-Bethlehem area.
