The most immediate effect of Gough's fllisting occurred in the opening titles of RKO's "Rancho Notorious" (1952); though Gough was prominently cast as the film's principal villain, RKO head man Howard Hughes, a rabid commie-hater, demanded that the actor's name be removed from the credits.
