Since 1979, St. Amand has been a resident of Brantford, Brant's most populous urban centre, where he has practiced family and criminal law. He has volunteered within the community with several organizations, including the Multiple Sclerosis Society, St. Joseph's Hospital, Brant Waterways Foundation, Big Brothers, Nova Vita Women's Services, and the minor hockey association.
St. Amand is a past president of the Brant Federal Liberal Association and was an active supporter of Jane Stewart's successful election campaigns in 1993, 1997, and 2000. After Stewart announce she would not run for re-election in the 2004 federal election, St. Amand ran to become the Liberal candidate for her riding and succeeded. He subsequently won the riding by a 20589 to 17856 margin over Conservative candidate Gregory Martin. He won 38.1% of the vote.
LloydSt. Amand was first elected as Member of Parliament for Brant in 2004 and was re-elected in 2006.
Amand, a resident of Brantford since 1979, practiced law on a full-time basis.
Amand was an active participant in the Brant Federal Liberal Riding Association, and an active member of The Honourable Jane Stewart's election campaigns.
All that said, Lloyd is going to be in for a night of nail-biting on the 23rd, but his chances of going back to Ottawa as the MP for Brant are still very much alive.
LloydSt. Amand didn't set the world on fire in the last election campaign and was lucky the Conservatives in the area were all in Haldimand-Norfolk trying to help Diane Finlay knock off Bob Speller.
As for the riding, well we know it was NDP for 22 years and that LloydSt. Amand is the second to last Liberal backbencher in party whose fortunes are sinking quick.
