The London Bridge, currently located in Lake Havasu City, Arizona was originally constructed in London, England in 1831. By 1962, the bridge was not structurally sound enough to support the increased load created by the level of modern traffic crossing it and it was sold by the City of London. The purchaser, Robert McCulloch, was the founder of Lake Havasu and the chairman of McCulloch Oil Corporation. The bridge was carefully disassembled and each piece was numbered. It was shipped to its present location and re-assembly began in 1968. The reconstruction took slightly over three years and was completed in late 1971. Lake Havasu City was established in 1963 by Robert P. McCulloch (of McCulloch Chainsaws) as a planned community.
A popular tourist attraction in Lake Havasu City is the London Bridge, which crosses an eight-foot-deep man-made canal that leads from Lake Havasu (on the Colorado River) to Thompson Bay.
In the city the population was spread out with 19.4% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 21.6% from 25 to 44, 27.7% from 45 to 64, and 25.5% who were 65 years of age or older.
