The A60 Stock is a class of sub-surface train run on the London Underground, which was built in 1960 by Cravens of Sheffield. The A62 Stock is a second batch of identical units, built in 1962. They are both commonly known simply as 'A' stock, as there is no need to distinguish between the 60 and 62 batches, or between either of these and the 1903 trains, also known as "A Stock". The 1992 Tube Stock was built by Adtranz (now Bombardier Transportation) for the Central Line as the result of the extensive testing of the three 1986 tube stock prototype trains.
At the end of the construction run, an additional ten two-car units were constructed for British Rail for the Waterloo and City Line, which until 1994 was part of the national railway network, and became their Class 482.
It was a fault with one of this type of trains that led to the Chancery Lane derailment on 25 January 2003.

The London Underground 1960 Stock was a class of electric multiple unit designed for the London Underground Central Line.
The 1960 stock trains ran mainly on the Hainault loop and towards the end of its life a 3-car 1960 stock train marshalled 1938 Stock cars operated the peak-only Epping-Ongar shuttle.
One of the 1960 Stock trains is still owned by LUL and remains in use as track recording unit.
