The new pier had two arcades, a shopping mall, a 10,000 square foot haunted mansion, a movie theater, a McDonald's, and a Big Al's Pub. The pier was heavily advertised in New Jersey and New York. By 1985, Kid's World was introduces, an amusement park inspired by Sesame Place in Langhorne, Pennsylvania. There were rebuilding plans for the pier, but with almost no insurance, and no banks offering to pay for the project, the plans would never come to be. By the late 1990's, the city of Long Branch took over the property and sold it to condo developers.
The site today Today, on the former pier site, is a bustling condo and shopping complex, Pier Village. A new boardwalk was installed, and the same visitors who once loved the pier come to Pier Village to sit on the boardwalk, and recount their memories. With Pier Village being such a happening place and attraction, it's just too bad that developers didn't combine the Complex along with the pier.
