Longleat in 1880

Longleat is a country house in Wiltshire, England. It is set in over 900 acres (3.6 km²) of parkland, landscaped by Capability Brown, with 8,000 acres (32 km²) of woods and farmland. I have tried to include a bit of everything that Longleat Railway has to offer, the journey, the animals you may see, a brief history of the line and a few bits 'behind the scenes' at Longleat Railway.
Longleat Railway has been running for 42 years, and at the moment seems to be the busiest tourist railway in the UK.

Longleat has worked hard to create a reputation as a major family attraction, with a plethora of theme park activities and the world-famous safari park, but at its core the estate still revolves around the superb Elizabethan country house.
Among the many purpose-built attractions which surround the house at Longleat are the world's largest hedge maze, a miniature railway, a petting zoo, a mirror maze, Dr Who exhibit, Butterfly Gardens, Postman Pat Village, and Adventure Castle.
Longleat is heaven for families; there is so much to do that the only problem will be trying to fit it all in.
