Los Ranchos de Albuquerque is a village located in Bernalillo County, New Mexico, USA. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 5,092.

Los Ranchos de Albuquerque is located at 35°9'42" North, 106°38'47" West (35.161644, -106.646432)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 10.6 km˛ (4.1 mi˛). 10.6 km˛ (4.1 mi˛) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 5,092 people, 1,997 households, and 1,431 families residing in the village. The population density is 481.9/km˛ (1,247.3/mi˛). There are 2,107 housing units at an average density of 199.4/km˛ (516.1/mi˛). The racial makeup of the village is 81.60% White, 0.49% African American, 1.55% Native American, 0.71% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, 12.14% from other races, and 3.46% from two or more races. 37.41% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 1,997 households out of which 30.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 57.4% are married couples living together, 9.7% have a female householder with no husband present, and 28.3% are non-families. 22.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 7.6% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.55 and the average family size is 2.98.


In the village the population is spread out with 23.9% under the age of 18, 5.9% from 18 to 24, 23.3% from 25 to 44, 33.0% from 45 to 64, and 13.8% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 43 years. For every 100 females there are 93.3 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 91.7 males.


The median income for a household in the village is $60,500, and the median income for a family is $77,150. Males have a median income of $51,797 versus $31,757 for females. The per capita income for the village is $40,883. 8.7% of the population and 6.6% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 11.6% of those under the age of 18 and 9.2% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
