Louis Monaco, born April 28, 1968 in Denver, CO, is a heavyweight boxer. Nicknamed "The Facelifter", Monaco is a heavyweight clubfighter who fought several significant fighters of his era.


Monaco turned pro in 1995 and has been a prototypical heavyweight journeyman and is often used as record padding for aspiring contenders. A short but stocky heavyweight at 5'11" and only around 215 pounds, he's fought contenders and pretenders, most often losing, sometimes in spectacular fashion.


He's been beaten by Eric Esch, Trevor Berbick, Kirk Johnson, Vitali Klitschko, Lamon Brewster, Fres Oquendo, Lance Whitaker, and Maurice Harris. But he also had some success, particularly earlier in his career, when he drew with former kickboxer Rick Roufus, TKO'd Peter McNeeley and beat a washed-up Michael Dokes. Possibly Monaco's greatest moment came during a loss. He nearly brought Buster Douglas's comeback to a screeching halt in a 1997. In a bizarre ending, Monaco landed a right hand just after the bell to end round one that knocked Douglas to the canvas. Douglas was unable to continue after a five-minute rest period, thus he was awarded the win by disqualification in a fight that was aired on USA-TV's "Tuesday Night Fights" program. James Buster Douglas (born April 7, 1960) was a heavyweight boxer from Columbus, Ohio who scored one of the biggest upsets ever in the sport by knocking out then_undefeated Mike Tyson in 10 rounds in 1990. ...

Born Louis Honoré Charles Antoine Grimaldi, a.k.a Prince Louis of Monaco, in Baden-Baden, Germany, he was the only child of Prince Albert I of Monaco (1848 - 1922), and Lady Mary Victoria Hamilton (December 11, 1850 - May 14, 1922), of Lanarkshire, Scotland.
Prince Louis died in 1949 and is buried at the Cathedral of Saint Nicholas in Monte Carlo, Monaco.
