The downstream area is one of the most famous city sceneries in Kaohsiung. It had once been polluted, primarily by industry; however, because of the efforts of the city government, the previous foul smell has gone and the river has been redesigned as a riverside park. Presently, there’s three outdoor cafés, often with live bands, and the Love boat, which navigates around the river, for the price of NT$50 each person. There are many attractive buildings near the river, such as the Rose Catholic Church, the Bridge of Kaohsiung, and the Kaohsiung District Court. Cultural events such as concerts and Lantern Festival are often held around the river. |
