Ringo Starr's instrumentation in this song is very progressive. The snare sound used here is two large cymbals being held together tightly while Ringo strikes the cymbals very hard with his drumstick, giving the illusion of a snare drum.

Gripping and intense, Lovely Rita is not be missed, however it is a spontaneous film with a lot of thought behind it and speaking with the director herself, the layers show careful planning and a calculated ambiguity revealing a contemporary film caught between generations, reality and satire, and passion and distance.
Rita, who is played by Barbara Osika and is mesmerising, is not able to communicate the way she would like and she is ostracized for it, but she is not just another girl with teenage angst.
Similarly, the school Rita attends is hardly a where Rita goes is hardly the repressive hell hole, of a repressed teenager, in fact Rita takes advantage of the understanding of her teachers to skip school.

I love Rita and will continue to cheer her on with all I have in hopes she can turn things around but I'm beginning to wonder if she has the ambition to get to that 2001 level again.
Rita is having a tough time this year, she's struggling with confidence and she needs her fan's support more than ever.
