Lowball (poker) is a poker variant in which traditional hand values are reversed so that the lowest-valued hand wins. Lowball usually implies five-card draw played for low, but there are several interpretations of this idea.
A class of alcoholic beverage: an unmixed drink served on ice or water in a short glass (a back-formation from highball).
As a verb, to underestimate or understate a price, for example in bargaining for a purchase. A tactic amongst shady sales people, a customer is quoted one price, then on delivery finds that it is higher than what was quoted. The tactic usually depends on the customer (victim) taking some deal of trouble to arrange pickup, eg., a second trip to the seller's lot or store, at which time they may be more willing to pay the inflated price rather than go to the trouble of finding another similar item. Examples: "That salesman lowballs customers." "My father was lowballed by him once and never did business with him again."
