Łuków is a town in eastern Poland with 32,200 inhabitants (1999).


Situated in the Lublin Voivodship (since 1999), previously in Siedlce Voivodship (1975-1998). It is the capital of Lukow County.

Ronald Lukow, a 1987 graduate of Mattoon High School, was on the scene when soldiers found the "spider hole" where Saddam was hiding behind two farm houses near Tikrit in Iraq.
Lukow and other officers had to keep quiet about the capture until tests could confirm the man the soldiers believed was Saddam truly was the former Iraqi leader.
Lukow's father, Herman Lukow, was senior instructor of ROTC at Mattoon High School from 1974 until his death in 1985.
