Luleċ is a city and municipality in Norrbotten County, in northern Sweden. It serves as the county seat of Norrbotten County. The population of the town is 45,000. The municipality covers an area of 1,807.3 km². Of the total population of 71,652, 36,201 are male, and 35,451 are female. The population density of the community is 40 inhabitants per km².

Iron ore is extracted in Kiruna and Malmberget, and brought by rail to the harbours of Luleċ and .(Borders as of 1920–1940.)

The harbour of Luleċ is of particular significance for iron ore from LKAB's mining in Kiruna and Gällivare/Malmberget. Due to sea ice situation in the Gulf of Bothnia, the harbour is typically closed each year December–May. The river Lule älv empties into the Baltic Sea at Luleċ.


The Church Village of Gammelstad, outside Luleċ is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.


Luleċ was founded in 1621 by king Gustav II Adolph of Sweden. It was situated where Gammelstad (Old Town) is situated today. The town had to be moved in 1649 to the current site, due to the constant elevation of the land.

LULEA, a seaport of Sweden, capital of the district (Ian) of Norrbotten, on the peninsula of Sandd, at the mouth of the Lule river and the north-west corner of the Gulf of Bothnia.
As a rule the port is closed by ice from November to the end of May. The town was almost entirely burnt down in 1887, and its buildings are newthe church (1888-1893), the Norrbotten Museum and a technical school being the most important.
