History

Lumban is one of Laguna's oldest towns. It got its name from "lumbang" tree. The province's capital town, Santa Cruz, as well as Cavinti and the famous Pagsanjan, were once part of Lumban. Lumban is also known as the "Embroidery Capital of the Philippines". It is where Lake Caliraya is situated. It lies 104 kilometers southeast of Manila, the capital of the country.
