In early 1983, to eliminate rural support for Museveni's guerrillas the area of LuweroLuwero is a district in central Uganda.
Luwero was the site of a fierce insurgency and brutal counter-insurgency that left many thousands of civilians dead before the National Resistance Army of Yoweri Museveni came to power.
