The Luxans are a fictional race from from Farscape universe.
Luxans are a fierce warrior race, whose physical makeup is bent towards survival and victory in combat. Aside from being exceptionally strong and agile, they possess two hearts, giving them enhanced constitutions. Luxans can survive in the vacuum of space for up to one-quarter arn. The other apparent feature are their tenkas, tentacles on their heads. Also they have a surprisingly long tongue covered with a toxin that causes unconsciousness. With practice Luxans can use their tongues to wrap around object, and can support a good amount of weight.
Luxans, when provoked to an extreme, enter a state known as Hyper-Rage. These rages are marked by extreme violence and memory loss.
Luxan spiritual or religious leaders are known as Oricans.
Luxans have been blood allies with the Ilanics for a thousand cycles; three cycles before Moya's escape from Peacekeeper custody, Luxans started providing aid to the Ilanics in their latest war with the Scorvians.
Unbeknownst to the Luxans, Grayza, in secret talks with Scarran War Minister Ahkna, traded away the Luxan territories to the Scarrans for the disputed sectors of the Uncharted Territories, defined as everywhere beyond the Kellek Nebula.
Luxans are gifted with great physical strength and endurance, both fueled by the beating of their two hearts.
When Luxans are wounded, a quirk of their physiology requires that their blood, which flows fl at first, must be made to appear translucent before they can heal.
Luxans are proud of their fighting skills, and value honor, courage and loyalty.
