Martin currently chairs Deloitte and Touche's Council on the Advancement of Women, a glass ceiling initiative which oversees corporate efforts to provide full opportunity to talented men and women, and is advisor to the firm.
Prior to serving in the cabinet, Martin represented the 16th District of Illinois in the House of Representatives from 1981 to 1991 where she was a member of the House Rules Committee, and the Committee on Public Works and Transportation.
