The M54 motorway is a major road in the United Kingdom also known as the Telford motorway.
The motorway runs nineteen miles west from its junction 10A on the M6 motorway just south of Cannock, north of Wolverhampton and through Telford, till junction 7 upon which motorway regulations end and it seamlessly becomes the A5, which heads into North Wales via Shrewsbury and Oswestry.
The motorway began life in 1975 as the Wellington bypass built with a concrete road surface replaced around 2000 with standard fltop tarmac.

It is often claimed to be the busiest motorway in the country, although the M25 may also lay claim to this dubious distinction, depending on the measurement used.
The first section of the motorway, and indeed the first motorway in the country, the Preston by-pass, was opened by the then Prime Minister Harold Macmillan on December 5, 1958.
The proposal is to widen the road from a 3 to a 4 lane dual carriageway between junction 11a and junction 19.
