The index includes a selection of stocks of all the developed markets in the world, as defined by MSCI. This index includes securities from 23 countries, and has been calculated since December 31, 1969. In investing, developed markets are those countries that are thought to be less risky. ...


It is a common benchmark for 'world' stock funds.
