Founded in 1947, as a direct response to World War II experiences, by legendary war photographer Robert Capa, David "Chim" Seymour, Henri Cartier-Bresson, George Rodger, and Bill Vandivert, Magnum is probably the first photographic cooperative, entirely owned and controlled by its members.
