Since the first Tour de France in 1903, there have been exactly 1907 stages, some of which were divided into two or three substages, up to and including the 18th stage of the 2007 Tour de France. After each stage since 1919 (see yellow jersey for more historical details), the leader in the race is awarded the yellow jersey, but in this article first-place-classifications before 1919 are also counted as if a yellow jersey was awarded. Because several times there were multiple leaders (see below), this means that 1914 yellow jerseys have been awarded in the Tour de France to 261 different riders. Persons in bold have also won the Tour de France, persons in italic are still active. The victory of Floyd Landis is contested and could be awarded to Óscar Pereiro. In previous tours, sometimes a stage was broken in two (or three). On such occasions, only the cyclist leading at the end of the day is counted. The right four columns indicate the number of times the rider won the overall points, King of the Mountains, and young rider competitions, and the years in which the yellow jersey was worn, with bold years indicating an overall Tour win. Floyd Landis (born October 14, 1975) is an American cyclist. ... Óscar Pereiro, Tour de France 2005. ...

Three cyclists have won the Tour de France with only two yellow jerseys.
