Sulu is an island province of the Philippines located in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM).
Sulu's area is 1,600.4 kilometers square, and is 15th of the largest islands of the Philippine Archipelago, in terms of the area.
Sulu although a small island was regarded by the Spanish Conquistadors of the past as one of its strongest enemy.

In 1903, Sulu became a district of the Moro Province and in 1914 became a province of the Department of Mindanao and Sulu.
