Region of the old Armenia c. 300-800. A branch of the family Amatuni ruled it, as vassals of the family Ardzruni

Maku is a city in the West Azarbaijan province of Iran. That province is situated in the northwestern part of Iran. The region of Maku was a part of the Lesser Media and its name itself is derived from the Persian word Madkuh meaning "the Mountain of the Medes". Medes were one of the Iranian tribes, ethnically and linguistically very close to the Persians.
