Encyclopedia > Malcolm Colcord

Malcom Colcord first appeared in the Wolverine series, a mysterious shadowed face and for good reasons. Colcord lived an ideal life, a family man, and later the handsome soldier guarding the Weapon X base up in Canada. He was unprepared one night, that his life would be horribly scarred. That night happened to the same night Wolverine escaped from the complex, in an animalistic rage massacuring all the soldiers. Colcord Sadly did not escape his wrath, and was slashed in the face by Wolverine.

This horrifying moment chronicled Malcolm's revenge against the mutant population. He seized control of the Weapon X program, becoming the cold ruthless calculating Director. One of his primairy roles as Director was recruiting mutants such as Sabretooth, Garrison Kane, Copycat and Deadpool. Colcord also recruited Agent Brent Jackson of SHIELD, but later became highly untrusting of Jackson, who's cunning was his most dangerous weapon. He hoped to recruit Wolverine back to fold, and used impants to drive Wolverine insane, while framing him for murder. Wolverine eventually regained power, and escaped the Weapon X compex again.

The failiure to recruit Wolverine and the death of Deadpool and Copycat, lead Colcord to decide to bring in new members. The New line-up consisted of Wild Child, Sauron, Mesmero, Aurora, Marrow Washout, and Maverick, (now known as Agent Zero). Most importantly this line-up was used for rescuing Maddison Jeffries of Alpha Flight, who brainwashed, would played an essential role in Colcord's plans.

Colcord sadistically engineered a mutant concentration camp called Neverland, which would be designed and built by Jeffries. Jeffries also designed the sentries known as Boxbots, (ressembling Sentinels). Using the current Weapon X agents, mutants would be taken from their homes forcibly and imprisoned in Neverland. There they would be seperated into two groups, the useful and the useless. Those with useless powers would be cruely disposed of. The survivors would either join the Program, or would suffer painful experiments to extract their powers.

Colcord later fell for the mutant Aurora, who persuaded him to go through facial surgery to loose his biterness. Colcord agreed, and for awhile the couple lived together happily. Of course the Director kept Aurora ignorant of Neverland, and never sent her there during inspections. Unfortunately admist the love, Brent Jackson pointed out Colcord hippocrasy, and slyly called him a mutant lover. Colcord greatly troubled by this name, angrily beat Aurora. Jackson plotted using this moment as a chance to usurp the program from the unspecting Colcord. Persuading Sauron, WildChild, Washout and members of the Underground to join him, Jackson staged a coup against the Director, and won sucessfully. Colcord destroyed his face in frusteration for loosing his insentive, and escaped the battle with the help of Jeffries and Aurora.

Aurora however later returned the favour to the Colcord and escaped. Colcord and Jeffries eventually returned to Weapon X, where visions of Wolverine haunted him. Eventually Colcord decided to rebuild the Program with the help of Jeffries
